Fe (III) hydroxide sucrose complex
Indications/Uses
Fe deficiency anaemia when there is clinical need for rapid Fe supply, in patients who cannot tolerate or are non-compliant to oral Fe therapy, in active inflammatory bowel disease where oral Fe prep are ineffective.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & elderly 5-10 mL 1-3 times wkly based on Hb level. Childn Not to exceed 0.15 mL/kg 1-3 times wkly based on Hb level. Max daily dose: 10 mL over at least 10 min not >3 times wkly. Patient >70 kg 25 mL in at least 3.5 hr not more than once wkly, ≤70 kg 7 mg/kg in at least 3.5 hr not more than once wkly.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Anaemia not caused by Fe deficiency. Fe overload or Fe utilization disturbances.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity. History of asthma, eczema, other atopic allergies. Acute or chronic infection. Avoid paravenous leakage. Hepatic dysfunction. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Dysgeusia; hypotension, HTN; nausea; inj/infusion site reactions.
