Indications/Uses
Emergency treatment of hypovolemic shock, burn therapy, hypoproteinemia w/ or w/o edema, adult resp distress syndrome (ARDS), cardiopulmonary bypass, acute liver failure, neonatal hemolytic disease, sequestration of protein rich fluids, erythrocyte resuspension, acute nephrosis, renal dialysis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Individualized dosage. Hypoproteinemia Adult 50-75 g IV daily. Childn 25 g IV daily.
Contraindications
History of allergic reaction. Congestive cardiac failure, stabilized chronic anemia. Renal insufficiency.
Special Precautions
Possibility of circulatory overload, presence of dehydration. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Urticaria, chills, fever & change in respiration, pulse & BP.
Drug Interactions
Not to be mixed w/ protein hydrolysates, amino acid soln, alcohol.
