Obstet Induce parturition in cases of uterine inertia during 3rd stage of labour. Prophylactically & therapeutically in cases of placental haemorrhage & uterine atony. Caesarian section: Inj into the uterine musculature. In puerperium: In subinvolution & produce haemostatic effect during incomplete & febrile abortion. Gynaecology Gynaecological haemorrhages.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1-5 IU IM/IV. Caesarean section 5 IU inj into uterine musculature. Gynaecologic indications 5-10 IU SC or IM.
Contraindications
Fetus disproportion w/ pelvis, transversal & oblique fetus position & cases involving danger of uterine rupture.
Special Precautions
CV disorders. Not to be infused rapidly.
Adverse Reactions
Water intoxication (large doses or on prolonged use). In high doses or hypersensitivity to it: Violent uterine contractions leading to uterine rupture & extensive laceration of soft tissues, fetal bradycardia, fetal arrhythmias & fetal asphyxiation.
