Blood disorders; peptic ulcer; inflammatory bowel disease; cardiovascular, pulmonary or thyroid disease; severe hepatic or renal impairment; porphyria; lactation.

Perform regular blood-cell counts; monitor renal and hepatic function; elderly; hypertension; infection.

GI disturbances, GI bleeding, ulcer, stomatitis; sodium and fluid retention; rash; hepatitis. Exacerbation of asthma; parotid swelling; hypersensitivity reactions; nephrotoxicity; photosensitivity.
Potentially Fatal: Severe myelosuppression; aplastic anaemia.

Reduces antihypertensive actions of ACE inhibitors, β-blockers and diuretics. Raises levels of phenytoin, lithium. Serum concentrations increased by methandienone. Absorption delayed by TCAs.
Potentially Fatal: Enhances activities of oral anticoagulants, hydantoins and oral hypoglycaemic agents.

Description:
Mechanism of Action: Oxyphenbutazone is a p-hydroxy analog and one of the active metabolites of phenylbutazone with a marked anti-inflammatory effect. Its potential for serious toxicity, however, limits its use in long-term therapy.
