Indications and Dosage
Ophthalmic
Conjunctival decongestant
Adult: As 0.5% solution: Instil 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac tid.

Oral
Hypotensive states
Adult: 100-150 mg tid.
Contraindications
Narrow-angle glaucoma. Hypertension.
Special Precautions
Hyperthyroidism, coronary insufficiency, heart failure. Infants.
Adverse Reactions
Bradycardia, acute glaucoma.
Drug Interactions
Pressor effects may be potentiated by MAOIs.
Action
Description:
Mechanism of Action: Oxedrine is a sympathomimetic agent. It produces peripheral vasoconstriction and increases BP with reflex bradycardia by stimulating α-adrenergic receptors.
