Oral
Enterobiasis, Hookworm infections, Infection caused by Trichostrongylus orientalis
Adult: With pyrantel: 10-20 mg/kg as single dose
Child: With pyrantel; 10-20 mg/kg as single dose

Oral
Infection caused by Trichuris trichiura
Adult: 10-20 mg/kg as single dose; with pyrantel: 10-20 mg/kg as single dose
Child: 10-20 mg/kg as single dose; with pyrantel: 10-20 mg/kg as single dose
Adverse Reactions
Headache, abdominal pain, diarrhoea
Action
Description:
Mechanism of Action: Oxantel, an analogue of pyrantel, is a depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent. It opens nonselective cation channels and induces activation of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, which results in spastic paralysis of the worms.
