Indications/Uses
Reduction of elevated IOP in patients w/ open-angle & chronic angle-closure glaucoma, ocular HTN; in paed patients w/ elevated IOP & paed glaucoma.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult including elderly, childn Instill 1 drop in affected eyes once daily in the evening.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Increased iris pigmentation; eyelid skin darkening; eyelash darkening, thickening & lengthening. Not recommended in patients w/ active & intraocular inflammation (iris/uveitis). Avoid use in active herpes simplex keratitis & in patients w/ history of recurrent herpetic keratitis specifically associated w/ prostaglandin analogues. Aphakic patients, pseudophakic patients w/ torn posterior lens cap, patients w/ known risk factors for macular edema; inflammatory neovascular glaucoma. History of herpetic keratitis. Potential for heterochromia in patients receiving unilateral treatment. Not recommended in concomitant use w/ other prostaglandins or prostaglandin analogues. Concomitant use w/ other ophth drugs lowering IOP. Administer 5 min apart if >1 topical ophth is used. Remove contact lens prior to & reinsert 15 min after instillation. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Pregnancy & lactation. Paed <1 yr & infants <36 wk gestation.
Adverse Reactions
Herpetic keratitis; dizziness, headache; eye irritation & pain, eyelash & eyelid vellus hair changes, ocular hyperaemia, iris hyperpigmentation, blepharitis, conjunctivitis, macular, eyelid & corneal oedema, photophobia, keratitis & punctate keratitis, uveitis, iritis, corneal erosion, trichiasis, blurred vision, periorbital & lid changes, eyelid skin darkening & localised reaction, iris cyst, ocular conjunctiva pseudopemphigoid; angina, palpitations, unstable angina; asthma, asthma aggravation & acute asthma attacks, dyspnoea; rash, pruritus; myalgia, arthralgia; chest pain.
Drug Interactions
Paradoxical increased IOP w/ ≥2 prostaglandins, prostaglandin analogues or derivatives. Eye precipitation w/ thimerosal.
