Monotherapy Instill 1 drop tds in conjuctival sac of affected eye(s). Adjunctive therapy w/ ophth β-blocker Instill 1 drop bd in conjunctival sac of affected eye(s). When substituting for another ophth antiglaucoma agent Discontinue other agent after dosing on 1 day & start dorzolamide the next day.
Hypersensitivity to sulphonamides. Discontinue use if allergic reactions eg, conjunctivitis & eyelid reactions occur. Acute angle-closure glaucoma; history of renal calculi; preexisting chronic corneal defects &/or history of intraocular surgery. Patients w/ significant renal tubular immaturity. Eye irritation due to benzalkonium Cl. Not recommended in concomitant use w/ carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. Remove contact lens prior to application & wait at least 15 min before reinsertion. Administer at least 10 min apart if >1 topical ophth drug is being used. Hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Patients <36 wk gestational age & infants <1 wk.
