Mepolizumab
Indications/Uses
Add-on maintenance treatment of severe eosinophilic asthma in patients ≥12 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & adolescent ≥12 yr 100 mg SC once every 4 wk.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Not to be used to treat acute asthma exacerbations; for other eosinophilic conditions, relief of acute bronchospasm or status asthmaticus. Asthma-related adverse events or exacerbations; acute & delayed systemic hypersensitivity reactions may occur. Patients w/ pre-existing helminth infections. Not recommended to discontinue corticosteroids abruptly after initiation of therapy. Avoid use during pregnancy. Lactation. Childn <12 yr, adolescents <45 kg.
Adverse Reactions
Headache. Pharyngitis, lower resp tract infection, UTI; nasal congestion; upper abdominal pain; eczema; back pain; pyrexia, inj site- & administration-related reactions.
