Indications and Dosage
Intramuscular
Reversal of opioid-induced respiratory depression Adult: As hydrobromide or hydrochloride: 5-10 mg repeated every 10-15 minutes as required until respiration is restored. Max dose: 40 mg. Intravenous Reversal of opioid-induced respiratory depression Adult: As hydrobromide or hydrochloride: 5-10 mg repeated every 10-15 minutes as required until respiration is restored. Max dose: 40 mg.

Special Precautions
Patients physically dependent on opioids or who have received large doses of opioids (acute withdrawal syndrome may be precipitated). May exacerbate respiratory depression induced by alcohol or other non-opioid depressant. Pregnancy and lactation. Cardiac disease or patients receiving cardiotoxic medications.

Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, respiratory depression, miosis, dysphoria, lethargy.

Action
Description:
Mechanism of Action: Nalorphine is an opioid antagonist, with properties similar to naloxone. It also has some agonist properties. Pharmacokinetics: Absorption: Absorbed after oral admin. Metabolism: Undergoes extensive first-pass metabolism. Excretion: Via urine mainly as metabolites and glucuronide conjugates with about 2-6% of a dose as unchanged drug. |

Store at 25 °C, excursions at 15-30°C permitted. Protect from light.
