Contents
Per 5 mL Dexchlorpheniramine maleate 2 mg, pseudoephedrine HCl 30 mg, dextromethorphan HBr 15 mg
Indications/Uses
Relief of unproductive cough & nasal congestion due to common cold or allergy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 10 mL tds. Childn 6-12 yr 5 mL tds.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Severe HTN or CAD; MAOIs. Lactation. Neonates, premature infants.
Special Precautions
HTN, hypothyroidism, DM, CV disease, narrow-angle glaucoma, stenosing peptic ulcer, pyloroduodenal obstruction, symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy, bladder neck obstruction. Not to be used for lower resp tract conditions, chronic persistent cough or cough associated w/ excessive secretions. Bronchial asthma, arrhythmias, glaucoma, ischemic heart disease. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Renal impairment. Pregnancy. Childn 2-6 yr. Not recommended for childn <2 yr. Elderly >60 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Sedation, mouth, nose & throat dryness, thickening of bronchial secretions, dizziness.
Drug Interactions
Additive effects w/ alcohol, other CNS depressants (hypnotics, sedatives, tranquilizers, anxiety agents). Inhibited action of oral anticoagulants. Prolonged & intensified anti-cholinergic effect by MAOIs. Ganglionic- or adrenergic-blocking agents. Increased ectopic pacemaker activity w/ digitalis.
