Control & symptomatic relief of acute nonspecific diarrhoea & chronic diarrhoea associated w/ inflammatory bowel disease.
Dosage/Direction for Use
AdultAcute diarrhoea 4 mg stat followed by 2 mg after each subsequent loose bowel movement. Chronic diarrhoea 4 mg stat followed by 2 mg after each subsequent loose bowel movement until diarrhoea is controlled. Maintenance: 4-8 mg daily in divided doses. Max 16 mg daily. Childn 8-12 yr 2 mg tds, >6 yr 2 mg bd. Maintenance: 1/3-½ initial dose.
Acute dysentery. Discontinue use if abdominal distension or other symptoms occur in patients w/ acute ulcerative colitis. Hepatic dysfunction. Young childn.
