View Levemir overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: For patients treated w/ once daily regimen, administer w/ evening meal or at bedtime. For patients who need bd dosing, the evening dose can be administered either w/ evening meal or at bedtime or 12 hr after morning dose.
Not to be inj IV & avoid IM administration. Not to be used in insulin infusion pumps. Diabetic ketoacidosis; hyper- & hypoglycemia; concomitant illness, infections & feverish conditions; diseases affecting adrenal, pituitary or thyroid gland; lipodystrophy; cutaneous amyloidosis; inj site reactions. Physical activity, diet changes or during concomitant illness. Monitor blood glucose. Avoid accidental mix-ups w/ other insulin prep. Transferring to another type or brand of insulin. Combination w/ thiazolidinediones in CHF patients. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Renal or hepatic impairment. Intensified blood glucose control & monitoring during pregnancy. Dosage adjustment during lactation. Childn <1 yr. Elderly.
