Indications/Uses
Reduction of elevated IOP in patients w/ open-angle glaucoma, chronic angle-closure glaucoma & ocular HTN.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult including elderly Instill 1 drop once daily in affected eye(s). Optimal effect is obtained when administered in the evening.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to latanoprost, benzalkonium Cl.
Special Precautions
Possibility of permanent heterochromia. Chronic angle-closure glaucoma or open-angle glaucoma of pseudophakic patients & pigmentary glaucoma; inflammatory, neovascular & congenital glaucoma, inflammatory ocular conditions; acute attacks of closed-angle glaucoma. Avoid use in active herpes simplex keratitis & patients w/ history of recurrent herpetic keratitis associated w/ prostaglandin analogues; history of herpetic keratitis. Aphakic & pseudophakic patients w/ torn posterior lens cap or anterior chamber lenses, or known risk factors for cystoid macular oedema; iritis or uveitis; asthma. Patients during peri-op period of cataract surgery. Eye irritation due to benzalkonium Cl. Remove contact lens prior to application & wait 15 min before reinsertion. May impair ability to drive & use machines. Not to be used during pregnancy & lactation. Ped <1 yr & preterm infants <36 wk gestation.
Adverse Reactions
Increased iris pigmentation, mild to moderate conjunctival hyperaemia, eye irritation, eyelash & vellus hair changes. Transient punctate epithelial erosions, blepharitis, eye pain.
Drug Interactions
Paradoxical elevations in IOP w/ concomitant use of ≥2 prostaglandins, prostaglandin analogues or derivatives.
