Indications and Dosage
Topical/Cutaneous
Pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal and joint disorders
Adult: As 5% ointment: Apply 2-3 times/day for 4-5 days.
Contraindications
Active peptic ulceration; hypersensitivity to aspirin and other NSAIDs.
Special Precautions
History of peptic ulceration; asthma; allergic disorders, coagulation defects; renal or hepatic impairment; history of cardiac failure, left ventricular dysfunction, hypertension or oedema due to other reasons; elderly, pregnancy and lactation.
Adverse Reactions
GI bleeding and discomfort, hypersensitivity reactions, headache.
Drug Interactions
Reduces effects of antihypertensives. Enhanced effect with moclobemide. Increased risk of GI bleeding with warfarin.
Potentially Fatal: Reduces antiplatelet effects of aspirin. Increases risk of methotrexate and lithium toxicity.

Mechanism of Action: Ibuproxam is an NSAID. It inhibits prostaglandin synthesis.
Pharmacokinetics:
Absorption: Well absorbed orally. Peak plasma concentrations in about 45 min.
Metabolism: Partially metabolised to ibuprofen.
Excretion: Via urine (as metabolite and unchanged drug).
