Indications and Dosage
Topical/Cutaneous
Pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal and joint disorders Adult: As 5% ointment: Apply 2-3 times/day for 4-5 days.

Contraindications
Active peptic ulceration; hypersensitivity to aspirin and other NSAIDs.

Special Precautions
History of peptic ulceration; asthma; allergic disorders, coagulation defects; renal or hepatic impairment; history of cardiac failure, left ventricular dysfunction, hypertension or oedema due to other reasons; elderly, pregnancy and lactation.

Adverse Reactions
GI bleeding and discomfort, hypersensitivity reactions, headache.
|
|
Drug Interactions
Reduces effects of antihypertensives. Enhanced effect with moclobemide. Increased risk of GI bleeding with warfarin.
Potentially Fatal: Reduces antiplatelet effects of aspirin. Increases risk of methotrexate and lithium toxicity. |

Mechanism of Action: Ibuproxam is an NSAID. It inhibits prostaglandin synthesis. Pharmacokinetics: Absorption: Well absorbed orally. Peak plasma concentrations in about 45 min. Metabolism: Partially metabolised to ibuprofen. Excretion: Via urine (as metabolite and unchanged drug). |
