Indications/Uses
Adults & childn w/ DM for maintenance of normal glucose homeostasis. Initial stabilisation of DM.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
Should be taken with food: Administer w/in 15 min before or immediately after meals.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Transferring from other insulins. Illness or emotional disturbances. Hyper-/hypoglycemia. Increased physical activity or diet changes. Combination w/ thiazolidinediones. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Renal or hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Hypoglycemia. Local allergy eg, inj site redness, swelling & itching.
Drug Interactions
Increased insulin requirements by OCs, corticosteroids or thyroid replacement therapy, danazol, β2-stimulants. Decreased insulin requirements w/ oral hypoglycaemics, salicylates, sulpha antibiotics, MAOIs, SSRIs, ACE inhibitors, ARBs, β-blockers, octreotide or alcohol.
