Primary humoral immunodeficiency 300-600 mg/kg IV every 3-4 wk. Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura 1 g/kg IV in 2 divided doses for 2 consecutive days or 0.4 g/kg IV for 5 consecutive days. Total dose: 2 g/kg. Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy Initial loading dose: 2 g/kg IV in divided doses over 2-4 consecutive days. Maintenance infusion: 1 g/kg IV over 1 day or 0.5 g/kg IV for 2 consecutive days every 3 wk.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. IgA deficient patients w/ Ab against IgA. SC administration in patients w/ idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.
Special Precautions
Hyperproteinemia, increased serum viscosity & hyponatremia. Thrombotic events; assess baseline blood viscosity in patients at risk for hyperviscosity. Rapid infusion & high doses may cause aseptic meningitis syndrome. Monitor for signs & symptoms of hemolysis; pulmonary adverse reactions. Renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn. Elderly ≥65 yr.
