Azelastine HCl, fluticasone propionate
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of moderate to severe allergic rhinitis & rhinoconjunctivitis in adults & childn ≥12 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & adolescent ≥12 yr 1 spray in each nostril bd (morning & evening).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to azelastine & fluticasone.
Special Precautions
Not to be used in patients w/ recent nasal ulcers, surgery & trauma. Susceptibility to candida infections especially in diabetics; change in vision or history of increased IOP, glaucoma &/or cataracts. Transferring from systemic steroid treatment. High doses & prolonged use. Concomitant use w/ alcohol, other CNS depressants; strong CYP3A4 inhibitors eg, ritonavir, ketoconazole. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Renal & hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Growth development in childn <12 yr. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Drug Interactions
Enhanced sedative effects w/ alcohol or other CNS depressants. Reduced serum cortisol conc w/ ritonavir. Increased systemic exposure w/ ketoconazole. Increased plasma levels w/ cimetidine.
