Contents
Per g Clindamycin 10 mg, benzoyl peroxide 50 mg
Indications/Uses
Mild to moderate acne vulgaris particularly inflammatory lesions.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & adolescent ≥12 yr Apply thinly once daily to affected area in the evening. Max duration: Not >12 wk of continuous use.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to clindamycin, lincomycin, benzoyl peroxide.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity to benzoyl peroxide. Discontinue use if severe local irritation or Clostridium difficile-associated colitis occurs. Not to be used in sensitive skin. History of regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis. Atopic patients. Cross-resistance w/ other antibiotics eg, lincomycin or erythromcyin. Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Avoid contact w/ mouth, eyes, lips, other mucous membranes, irritated or broken skin; hair, fabrics, furniture or carpeting. Recent history of systemic or topical clindamycin or erythromycin use. Concomitant use w/ topical acne therapy. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended in childn <12 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Erythema, peeling, dryness. Burning sensation.
Drug Interactions
Cumulative irritant effect w/ other topical antibiotics, medicated or abrasive soaps & cleansers, soaps & cosmetics w/ strong drying effect & products w/ high alcohol &/or astringents conc. Possible antagonism w/ erythromycin-containing products. Enhanced action of other neuromuscular-blocking agents. Reduced efficacy & increased irritation w/ tretinoin, isotretinoin & tazarotene. Temporarily change of skin & facial hair colour w/ sulfonamide-containing topical products.
