Indications and Dosage
Oral
Hypotensive states
Adult: As hydrochloride: 300-400 mg/day.
Special Precautions
Hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, heart disease, hypertension, arrhythmias, cerebrovascular disease, angle-closure glaucoma, 2nd stage of labor, elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Anxiety, tremor, tachycardia, arrhythmias, headache, cold extremities, nausea, vomiting, sweating, weakness, dizziness and hyperglycaemia.
Potentially Fatal: Hypertension, pulmonary oedema.
Drug Interactions
Tricyclic antidepressants, clonidine.
Potentially Fatal: Volatile anaesthetics, adrenergic neurone blockers, β-blockers.

Mechanism of Action: Dimetofrine is a sympathomimetic which has vasopressor properties.
