Per mL Dexamethasone 1 mg, neomycin sulphate 3.5 mg, polymyxin B-sulphate 6,000 IU
Indications/Uses
Local treatment for steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions for which corticosteroid is indicated & where bacterial infection or risk of bacterial ocular infection exists.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1-2 drops in conjunctival sac. Severe disease May be used every hr, tapered as inflammation subsides. Mild disease Up to 4-6 times daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Epithelial herpes simplex keratitis (dendritic keratitis), vaccinia, varicella & other corneal & conjunctival viral disease. Mycobacterial eye infection. Fungal ocular structures diseases.
Special Precautions
Not for inj. Hypersensitivity to bisulphites. Prolonged use. Diseases causing cornea or sclera thinning, acute purulent eye conditions, possibility of persistent corneal fungal infection. Monitor IOP if used ≥10 days. Herpes simplex. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Allergic sensitization. Elevation of IOP w/ possible development of glaucoma & infrequent optic nerve damage, posterior subcapsular cataract formation, delayed wound healing. Fungal infections w/ long-term use. Secondary bacterial ocular infection.
