Clobetasol propionate
Indications/Uses
Short-term treatment of inflammatory & pruritic manifestations of moderate to severe corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses eg, psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis) recalcitrant eczemas, lichen planus, discoid lupus erythematosus & other conditions which do not respond satisfactorily to less active steroids.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply bd for ≤14 days. Max: 50 g/wk.
Contraindications
Rosacea, acne & perioral dermatitis, routine gingivitis, perianal & genital pruritus. Viral, fungal or bacterial skin infection. Dermatoses in childn <1 yr, including dermatitis & napkin rashes.
Special Precautions
Atrophic changes may occur on face especially after long-term treatment. Psoriasis. Pregnancy & lactation. Avoid prolonged or extensive therapy especially in infants & childn.
Adverse Reactions
Local irritation, itching, stinging, cracking, erythema, folliculitis, skin atrophy, telangiectasia, pigmentation changes, hypertrichosis & hypersensitivity. Systemic absorption possible in extensive or prolonged treatment.
