Indications/Uses
Curative & prophylactic treatment of candidiasis of the oropharyngeal cavity & GIT.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ½ tsp qds. Infant ¼ tsp qds. Do not swallow gel immediately, but keep in mouth as long as possible. Continue treatment for at least 1 wk after symptoms have disappeared. Oral candidiasis Remove dental prostheses at night & brush w/ gel.
Contraindications
Liver dysfunction.
Special Precautions
Ensure gel does not obstruct the throat especially in infants & young childn. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
GI discomfort eg, nausea, vomiting; diarrhoea (long-term).
Drug Interactions
Avoid terfenadine, astemizole, mizolastine, cisapride, triazolam, midazolam, dofetilide, quinidine, pimozide, simvastatin, lovastatin. Oral anticoagulants, saquinavir, vinca alkaloids, busulfan, docetaxel, dihydropyridines, verapamil, cyclosporine, tacrolimus, sirolimus, oral hypoglycaemics, phenytoin, carbamazepine, buspirone, alfentanil, sildenafil, alprazolam, brotizolam, rifabutin, methylprednisolone, trimetrexate, ebastine, reboxetine.
