Contents
Per 300 mg Iohexol 647 mg/mL (iodine 300 mg/mL). Per 350 mg Iohexol 755 mg/mL (iodine 350 mg/mL)
Indications/Uses
Coronary, adult peripheral, cerebral, visceral, pediatric coronary & digital subtraction angiography (DSA); computed body tomography, neurology-myelography & cisternography; phlebography, urography, arthrography.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Intrathecal Total dose: Not to exceed iodine 3,060 mg or 300 mg/mL in single myelographic exam. Thoracic/cervical/total columnar myelography 6-10 mL of iodine 300 mg/mL. Angiocardiography Iodine 350 mg/mL. Ventriculography 40 mL single inj of iodine 350 mg/mL repeated as necessary. Dose range: 30-60 mL. Selective coronary arteriography 5 mL/inj of iodine 350 mg/mL. Dose range: 3-14 mL. Aortic root & arch study 50 mL single inj of iodine 350 mg/mL. Multiple, combined angiocardiographic procedures Max total vol: Not to exceed 250 mL of iodine 350 mg/mL. Aortography 50-80 mL single inj. Cerebral arteriography Iodine 300 mg/mL: Common carotid artery 6-12 mL. Internal carotid artery 8-10 mL. External carotid artery 6-9 mL. Vertebral artery 6-10 mL. DSA 30-50 mL of iodine 350 mg/mL. Aortofemoral runoffs 20-70 mL of iodine 350 mg/mL or 30-90 mL of iodine 300 mg/mL. Selective femoral/iliac arteriograms 10-30 mL of iodine 350 mg/mL or 10-60 mL of iodine 300 mg/mL. Venography 40-100 mL/leg of iodine 300 mg/mL. Excretory urography Iodine 200-350 mg/kg. Head imaging 70-150 mL of iodine 350 mg/mL. Body imaging 50-200 mL of iodine 300 mg/mL or 60-100 mL of iodine 350 mg/mL. Ped Coronary angiography 1 mL/kg as single dose of iodine 350 mg/mL. Multiple, combined angiocardiographic procedures Max total dose: Not to exceed 6 mL/kg up to total vol 291 mL of iodine 300 mg/mL or 5 mL/kg up to total vol 250 mL of iodine 350 mg/mL. Pulmonary angiography 1 mL/kg single inj of iodine 350 mg/kg. Ventriculography 1.75 mL/kg of iodine 300 mg/mL or 1.25 mL/kg of iodine 350 mg/mL. Urography 0.5-3 mL/kg of iodine 300 mg/mL. Dose range: 1-1.5 mL/kg. Voiding cystourethrography Iodine 50-100 mg/mL.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Immediate repeat myelography. Presence of significant local or systemic bacterial infection. Not to be administered w/ intrathecal corticosteroids.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity. Thromboembolic events. History of seizures, severe CV disease, multiple sclerosis. Not recommended for direct intracisternal or ventricular administration for standard radiography w/o computerized tomographic enhancement. Chronic alcoholism. Avoid rapid dispersion. Ensure adequate hydration. Patients on anticonvulsant medication. Not recommended in concomitant use w/ drugs lowering seizure threshold eg, phenothiazine derivatives, antihistamines, anti-nausea, TCAs, MAOIs, CNS stimulants, analeptics, antipsychotics, major tranquilizers. Hepatic & renal diseases. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, backache, neckache, stiffness, nausea, vomiting. Feeling of heaviness, hypotension, hypertonia, sensation of heat, sweating, vertigo, loss of appetite, drowsiness, HTN, photophobia, tinnitus, neuralgia, paresthesia, difficulty in micturition, neurological changes. Vision abnormalities, taste perversion; dyspnea, rhinitis, coughing, laryngitis; urticaria, purpura, abscess, pruritus.
Drug Interactions
Lactic acidosis leading to acute renal failure w/ metformin. Drugs lowering seizure threshold eg, phenothiazine derivatives, antihistamines, anti-nausea, TCAs, MAOIs, CNS stimulants, analeptics, antipsychotics, major tranquilizers.
