Loratadine
Indications/Uses
Relief of symptoms associated w/ allergic rhinitis; signs & symptoms of chronic urticaria & other allergic dermatologic disorders.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 10 mg once daily. Childn 2-12 yr >30 kg 10 mg once daily, <30 kg 5 mg once daily. Severe hepatic impairment Adult & childn >30 kg Initially 10 mg every other day. Childn ≤30 kg 5 mg every other day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use at least 48 hr before skin tests. Severe hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <6 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Somnolence, headache, increased appetite, nervousness, fatigue, insomnia.
Drug Interactions
Elevated levels & increased adverse events w/ known CYP3A4 or CYP2D6 inhibitors.
