Ambroxol HCl
Indications/Uses
Acute & chronic resp tract diseases especially chronic & asthmatoid bronchitis, bronchial asthma, bronchiectasis, laryngitis, sinusitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult 1 tab tds, may be increased to 2 tab bd. Syr Adult & childn ≥12 yr 10 mL bd. Childn 6-12 yr 5 mL bd-tds, 2-5 yr 2.5 mL tds, 1-2 yr 2.5 mL bd.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Not to be used during 1st trimester of pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use immediately if skin or mucous membrane damage occurs. SJS, TEN, erythema multiforme & acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis. May cause GI upsets, circulatory failure & CNS disturbances due to large amount of Na metabisulfite.
Adverse Reactions
Dysgeusia, hypoesthesia, nausea.
