Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
Should be taken with food: Dissolve in a glass of water then drink.
Contraindications
Allergy to shellfish. Acute painful symptoms. Fructose intolerance. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Cardiac insufficiency; edema & water retention; impaired glucose tolerance. May cause allergic reactions due to sunset yellow (E110). Patients on controlled Na diet. Renal & severe hepatic insufficiency.
Adverse Reactions
Peripheral oedema, tachycardia; CNS disturbances (drowsiness, headache, somnolence, insomnia); GI disturbances (nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, dyspepsia or epigastric pain, flatulence, constipation, heartburn, anorexia); cutaneous rash, erythema, pruritus; dermatitis, papular rash, urticaria, eczema (occasionally), hair loss, allergic reaction, visual disturbances, oedema (isolated cases).
Drug Interactions
Low potential for interactions. Coumarin anticoagulants eg, warfarin, platelet antiaggregant; tetracyclines.
