Methisoprinol
Indications/Uses
Viral infections in resp disease, exanthema, liver disease & certain nerve disease, flu in adult & childn, bronchiolitis, rhinopharyngitis, varicella, measles, herpes simplex, herpes zoster, parotitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn Ave dose: 50 mg/kg daily in 3-4 divided doses while awake. Severe infections, acute phase 100 mg/kg daily in 4-6 divided doses. Usual treatment duration: 7-10 days.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Patients w/ gout, heart disease receiving digitalis therapy. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Temporary increase of uric acid in serum, skin rash or itching, fatigue, malaise, diarrhea, temporary headache, vertigo, nervousness, insomnia, constipation, polyuria.
